It's no coincidence that December has been designated as the National Drunk Driving Prevention Month. This is a time to throw parties and celebrate with your friends and co-workers, but please do so responsibly.
In 2005, a total of 43,443 traffic fatalities occurred in the U.S., 39% (16,885) of which were alcohol related. During the holidays, the percentage of drunk-driving incidents typically increases. Among the alcohol-related fatalities, 86% (14,539) involved a driver, pedestrian, or bicyclist with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of more than 0.08 g/dL.
The BAC is the amount of alcohol absorbed into your bloodstream . This level can be affected by many factors such as weight, gender, amount of alcohol and food consumed, and medications. This is what the breathalyzer tests. The legal level for a driver is less than .08 g/dL.

My wife is a Criminal Lawyer and sees the devistation caused to both the victms, their families and the drunk drivers family.
Its just not woth the pain and suffering.....
The RAC Foundation in the UK also talk about FAT, "Festive Auto Tension". It seems the pressure of Christmas effects our driving habits, even without the addition of alchohol. Visit www.racfoundation.org for the full story. These driving habits can and will contribute to accidents that would not normally haapen at a diiferent time of the year, due to the focus and pressure of the festive season.

Personally i think the penalties for drink driving in england are too little. I read the other day a man was drunk and hit a woman on the curb and killed her. he got 3 years imprisonment.
Were is the justice, i mean he knew the risk when he got into the car.
I run a vauxhall spare part company, supplying vauxhall spare parts to garages around the country, and in the winter the amount of vauxhall spare part requests triples, and mainly due to a increase in accidents due to drink driving.
people note that if you drink and drive you risk other peoples lives, your life and you car parts.
Being drunk and in control of a car is like being drunk and in control of a gun.
You have in front of you a weapon that can kill and you do not have control of that situation.
even in accidents that were no primarily your fault, you reaction time is serioulsy less. Where without the drink the situation may be avoided.
In shirt don't do it.
Unfortunatly the decison to drive is usually made whilst you are drunk.
So leave the car at home so you cannot make those decisions.
