How Long Does It Take to Get Pregnant?

Pregnancy rates with "normal" fertility should be expected to be:
-1 month 25%
-6 months 60%
-9 months 75%
-12 months 85%
-18 months 90%

Infertility occurs in 15% of reproductive age couples. It is defined as no pregnancy in 12 months of unprotected intercourse. However, infertility evaluation may be started sooner depending on the woman's age.

In general if there is no history or risk factors for infertility the recommendations for starting infertility evaluation are:
- women under 35 years old to start at 12 months
- women 35-39 to start at 6 months
- women over 40 to start at 3 months
